Momentum-operated online sportsbook and casino would be UAE’s first legal platform of its kind if granted a commercial gaming license.
Momentum, which runs the UAE’s only fully licensed lottery product, also operates a pair of sports betting and casino sites targeting players in the Emirates, according to a report by Arabian Gulf Business Insight (AGBI).
AGBI claims to have reviewed documents confirming that Momentum is the operator behind the TrueWin and Dream Island online gambling platforms.
TrueWin offers a wide range of online casino games, including online slots and crash games. A fully featured sportsbook is also available with hundreds of live and pre-match markets across dozens of sports.
Visitors to Dream Island are greeted with a pop up explaining that the site will permanently close in mid-December and encouraging players to register at TrueWin instead.
Both platforms are hosted on .ae domains and are accessible from within the UAE but neither site provides any information about its operating license.
TrueWin would be the first UAE online sportsbook and casino to acquire a federal operating license were it to receive regulatory approval from the country’s commercial gaming regulator, the GCGRA.
This would represent a significant milestone for the UAE and wider GCC region, where online gambling is broadly prohibited.
The UAE Lottery was launched in late 2024 and remains the only lottery regulated by the GCGRA.
Tickets for draws can be purchased in person at selected locations across the Emirates or on the UAE Lottery website - which also offers a range of instant-win real money games.
In addition to the UAE Lottery, the GCGRA has issued commercial gaming licenses to the entities developing Wynn Al Marjan Island integrated casino resort in Ras Al Khaimah and to more than a dozen B2B suppliers of gaming software and equipment.
