The former Juventus coach will be expected to guide United FC to promotion.
United FC has appointed Andrea Pirlo as head coach ahead of the new UAE First Division League season.
“With his vision, passion, and winning mentality, a new chapter begins. Welcome to Dubai, Mister Pirlo!” said the club via its official Instagram channel.
Considered one of the greatest footballers of all time, Pirlo played 570 club matches across a 22-year career for Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus and others.
He was also capped 116 times by his country and was awarded player of the match in the 2006 World Cup final.
Pirlo has since managed teams in Italy and Turkey and led Juventus to Coppa Italia glory in 2021.
Only the best betting sites will offer odds on Dubai FC matches in the UAE’s second tier given its relatively low global popularity.
After a creditable fourth place finish last season, Pirlo will be expected to push his squad - which includes former Portugal international midfielder Adrien Silva - toward promotion this time around.
