Jennifer Carelton brings 30 years’ experience in gaming law and compliance to the GCGRA.

The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) has appointed Jennifer Carleton as its chief of licensing and investigations.

Carleton was formerly chief legal officer at Nevada-based gaming payments specialists, Sightline Payments, where she led its anti-money laundering operations.

“Jennifer will play a key role in advancing GCGRA’s mission to regulate with integrity, transparency, and global best practice,” said the GCGRA.

“We are delighted to have her on board as we continue to build a world-class regulatory framework for the UAE’s commercial gaming sector.”

The GCGRA was established in 2023 to oversee all commercial gaming activity in the UAE. It has issued licenses to the entity developing Wynn Al Marjan Island - the region’s first integrated casino resort - as well as to numerous B2B product and service providers.

Reports suggest that the GCGRA is also set to offer one online gaming license to each of the UAE’s seven emirates which, if correct, suggest licensed UAE online casinos and sports betting sites may not be far away.
